Pendennis Castle 11: Castle Keep entrance, in Falmouth, Cornwall, England more
The entrance to the inner castle has its own portcullis. The outer walls with the moat in the earlier pictures were added in 1597, although the moat may have been dig during the English Civil War.
The arrow slits above the entrance have been opened up to have holes for muskets to shoot out of. there is a coat of arms above the door, with the armorial bearings probably of the lion and unicorn of England; there are also some gargoyles on the walls. All very gothic.
