The plaque next to the ruined crosses reads as follows:
“The Bowstones
Two shafts of late Saxon crosses which were probably landmarks or boundary stones as well as objects of devotion. The crossheads with interlace in the courtyard of [nearby] Lyme Hall are likely to be from the Bowstones.”
The previous two pictures, 2368 and 2369 show a cross carved into the side of the remaining stems.
