This monument commemorates (I think) Thomas Cramner, and is popularly known (I was told) as a “sunken cathedral” because it looks a little as if it’s a spire. It is properly called the Martyr’s Memorial, and was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, built in 1843 and restored in 2003.
